Detailed Twitter UTM guide
To build a landingpage URL for Twitter ads you should add the following parameters and values
utm_source=twitter
twag=[ADGROUP_ID]
twid=[TWEET_ID]
https://www.yourshop.com/?utm_source=twitter&twag=[ADGROUP_ID]&twid=[TWEET_ID]
Unfortunately Twitter does not allow dynamic URLs, so you need to manually replace[ADGROUP_ID]
and[TWEET_ID]
with the correct ID’s, for each Ad. Also please make sure to not re-use the same Ad in multiple Ad Groups!
To obtain the two ID’s please follow these steps:
- To find out the
[ADGROUP_ID]
go to the Twitter Ads manager and edit the ad group. - Copy the number after
…/adgroup/
from the URL, this is the[ADGROUP_ID]
. - To find the
[TWEET_ID]
you need to go to the Ads tab and click on the date of the ad. - Copy the ID after
…/status/
- this is the[TWEET_ID]
- Now edit the Ad group → select the Ad to the left → scroll down and add the parametes to the landingpage URL.
